Home Buying and Selling in Sacramento
Do you ever have days when you feel compelled to tell some whiny person to just put a sock in it? I’m not talking about my husband, in case he’s reading this and wondering. It’s the buyer’s agents who can get all excited and turn into white knight agents, turning up the volume and drama over some piddly little thing, when the agent hasn’t even spoken to the buyer. A Sacramento real estate agent can’t take this kind of stuff personally because it’s not personal. It’s some other agent’s misaligned ego that’s doing the talking.
It’s very difficult to color correct photographs when a kitten is attacking my television monitor. Typing doesn’t seem to excite little Tessa as much as when I move the mouse around and magic happens in front of her eyes. She appreciates when I use the tool that lightens shadows, and she is madly in love with the adjustments I make using Levels in Photoshop. As a Sacramento real estate agent, I often agonize over my photographs because I want to make sure that each and every photo does its job properly online.
You probably don’t think to call an agent before remodeling a home, but maybe you should. Ah, we agents of a certain agent suffer from remodeling nostalgia overdose; it’s no wonder I have a hard time remembering what year it is. Much less the month and day. There is so much nostalgia going on that it’s like the 1960s all over again. OK, no smoke-filled rooms stuffed with stoners stumbling around toting bongs — which today would be water bottles — but you get the point. The clothes, the TV shows, the home furnishings, they all yell groovy, baby. Or maybe it just seems that way with Mad Men and Masters of Sex.
One of the biggest fears sellers often harbor about selling a Sacramento home is what if it doesn’t sell? They have those fears because they are not in real estate. When you’re in real estate, like this Sacramento real estate agent, you know that anything will sell if the price is right. Even a flooded-out house with mold the size of basketballs will sell. And yes, I’ve sold a lot of those types of homes, too.
There are a variety of reasons why selling a Sacramento home might take longer than usual to sell, though. These are sometimes the reasons that some sellers don’t want to hear because they are reasons the sellers should have thought of before they bought a home. I often tell people that the time to think about selling a Sacramento home is when you buy a home.
We had a banner day in Sacramento short sales on Monday. While last week was one of those rare oddities in which it seemed that every time I turned around I was stepping into a big ol’ pile of stinky dog poop, this week is definitely back on track. I am back to a relatively smooth running real estate business with little bumps in the road along the way but no major potholes. I received 4 short sale approval letters yesterday and 2 extensions.
One approval was for a pool home in Carmichael. Another was for a Bank of America Cooperative short sale in Sacramento; there was an approval for a short sale in Galt, and an all new approval for a popular Carmichael short sale. I received a much needed short sale extension for a short sale that could not close in Rosemont and another in Sacramento, both of which were caused by excessive (buyer) lender delays.
